#FreeSoftware without a Licence is not free! Your code is only useful, if other developers know that they can safely use it, without risking lawsuits.

If you are on #Codeberg, please check that your content is licenced under an OSI / FSF approved licence.

Thank you for caring about #FOSS.

So recently there was an image shared that Comcast who use OpSecSecurity claimed a DMCA on an #Ubuntu @ubuntu iso download.

As it turns out, it may not have been real.

OpSecSecurity put out a tweet saying they had "incontrovertible evidence" it wasn't real (second image). But...then they deleted it, and re-posted a different tweet with far less confident wording... twitter.com/OpSecSecurity/stat

As asshole companies like apple and johndeere and ford lock down their products, the Right To Repair has become a big thing in euro politics and I don't know why it is so slow to take off here. Anyhow, these guides are an aid to what is possible now.

The Manual Library

The Internet Archive Manual Library is a collection of manuals, instructions, walkthroughs and datasheets for a massive spectrum of items. Manuals covering electronic and mechanical products, instructions on mixing or blending items, and instruction sets for software and computer items are all included.

This week is GDPR's 3rd anniversary! 🎂

It has reshaped the web and increased awareness of the issues with surveillance capitalism. Many privacy-first tools like Plausible wouldn't have existed without it 🙌

It continues to make a big difference too. We hear daily from large companies who are closely watching opt-in rates on those consent banners. And they are increasingly looking for and switching to privacy-focused tools due to high opt-out rates! #haveyoursay

WAT?! You're telling me there has been a team at Facebook designing and implementing this feature, and not one person has stood up and asked:

"Uhm, isn't that super creepy, even for us?"

So you’re probably sick of hearing me talk for years on how we need to make having our own places on the Web as easy as signing up to the factory farms of Big Tech.

On today’s Small Is Beautiful, you’re going to see a glimpse of a very early demonstration of that with Owncast (your own Twitch).

It’s nowhere near ready for public use but it’s a very satisfying step after several years of work on infrastructure following our work with the City of Ghent.

You could probably just rename university programs in "Graphic Design" to "Applied Adobe Patronage".
